Osteosynthesis implant for spinal correction during growth
The main innovative feature of the new method of scoliosis correction in children and adolescents is the mechanically growing rods, which do not require any readjustment of the implants due to the physiological length growth of the patient and are implanted in a minimally invasive manner. Additional cost-intensive surgical procedures to lengthen the implants are no longer necessary for the patient.
- Simple mechanism
- The growing implant does not require an external drive
- 3 component mechanism
- Rod for proximal or distal fixation
- Implant (Domino) with extension system
- Locking ring for fixation of all moving parts
- Multidirectional access to the locking screw (can be positioned left, right, upwards, downwards)
- Flat profile under the skin
- No planned implant removal
- Implant removal is not required if bone maturity is achieved, correction is properly maintained and the patient remains symptom-free.
- No interference from electrical devices
- Compatible with MRI and CT scan
- Growth potential and corrections
- 2 implant sizes available (growth up to 50 mm and 80 mm)
- Continuous expansion to achieve progressive correction of spinal deformity over time while allowing for continued growth of the child
- Minimally invasive bipolar implantation technique avoids spontaneous autofusion
- Bilateral implantation
- Viscoelastic stretching of the spine
- Automatic locking device when the maximum lengthening option is reached
